She Transformed Pain Into Purpose

She Turned Pain Into Purpose:
Kim Brown’s Inspiring Journey

Some stories don’t just inspire you, they shift something in your spirit.
Kim Brown’s journey is one of those stories.

When we interviewed Kim Brown, owner of Stylez by KayBee, for our Standin’ On Business interview series, we knew we were meeting a talented stylist. But what she shared with us revealed a woman whose mission in the beauty industry is rooted far deeper than hair.

Kim isn’t just a stylist. She is a healer, creator, and purpose-driven entrepreneur who has turned some of her life’s greatest pain into meaningful impact for women everywhere.

From Loss to Purpose: How It All Began

Kim’s passion for hair started not in a classroom or a salon, but at home, during one of the most heartbreaking seasons of her life. Her mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer, and as the treatments progressed, she began losing her hair. Kim stepped in to help her mother feel beautiful and empowered again, styling her hair with love and care.

Those moments became the spark that ignited Kim’s lifelong purpose. When her mother eventually passed away, the grief was heavy, but in that grief, she found a calling. She realized that hair is more than beauty. It is identity. It is confidence. It is healing. And she wanted to give women that feeling every single day.

A Stylist With Skill & Heart

Today, Kim is known for her exceptional work at Stylez by KayBee, where she specializes in:

  • Natural hair care

  • Sew-ins

  • Quick weaves

  • I-tips

  • K-tips

  • Hair coloring

  • And a range of customized styling services

Her clients come for the skill, but they stay for the heart, the comfort, and the experience she creates in her chair. Kim is the kind of stylist who doesn’t just do hair; she pours into people.

Honoring Her Mother & Grandmother:
A Foundation Built on Love

One of the most powerful parts of Kim’s story is how she chose to honor her mother’s legacy. Kim created a foundation dedicated to making custom wigs for cancer patients, a beautiful tribute to both her mother and her grandmother — who also battled cancer, specifically lung cancer.

Every year around Mother’s Day, instead of simply reflecting on her loss, Kim gives back. She hand-crafts wigs and gifts them to cancer warriors, offering them beauty, dignity, and confidence during some of the hardest moments of their lives.

It’s her way of keeping her mother and grandmother’s memories alive while lifting up other women who need a reminder that they are still beautiful, still strong, and still worthy.

What began as pain has now become purpose, impacting lives far beyond the salon chair.

A Story of Strength, Service, & Sisterhood

Kim’s journey is a powerful example of how adversity can mold us, shape us, and guide us to the work we were meant to do. Her mission isn’t just to style hair, it’s to restore confidence, inspire healing, and honor the women who shaped her.

Through her foundation, her salon, and her unwavering dedication to her craft, Kim Brown is transforming not only appearances but lives.

And that is what standing on business truly looks like.
